Playing the viola and singing simultaneously is something that has fascinated me for over 15 years. Technically it’s - unlike guitar, for example - almost impossible to sound four tone chords concurrently on a crooked bridge of classical string instruments. You have to arpeggiate the chords, that is, ≈break them« and that’s exactly what it sounds like… In order to achieve a musical flow and bring out new colors, I play two or three parts and sing one. That allows the piece, but also me, more freedom.

Simultanes Violaspiel und Singen beschäftigt mich seit über 15 Jahren. Technisch ist es − anders als z. B. auf der Gitarre − fast unmöglich, auf einem krummen Saitensteg gleichzeitig vier Töne klingen zu lassen. Man muss die Akkorde arpeggieren bzw. ≈brechen«, und so klingen die dann auch … Um musikalischen Fluss und neue Farben zu bekommen, spiele ich zwei oder drei Stimmen und singe eine. Das schenkt dem Stück, aber auch mir mehr Freiheit.
